"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment." Dear Church Family, As you have heard over the past several weeks, Holy Cross is indeed embarking on a " Journey of Faith" as we establish a vision that will guide us into the future for many years. We have been carefully charting our course as our church family and ministries continue to grow in both Lake Stevens and Granite Falls. We are growing in spirit and in numbers! God continues to bless us with new people and with new opportunities. Our journey, however, is not without challenges. Our ability to accommodate our current families and ministries is already stretched to the limit. Just to maintain our vibrant parish requires us to create our facilities and our tools for ministry. Welcoming new people and responding to new opportunities for ministry call us to boldly step forward in faith. In 1998, at the request of Archbishop Murphy, new land was purchased on Hwy. 92. This site would serve as a new location for an expanded church and parish operations for the fast growing communities of Lake Stevens and Granite Falls. On July 1, 2004, Archbishop Brunett promulgated the Mission of Holy Cross as the new parish of Holy Cross. Within the year, a building committee was formed to discuss and evaluate the needs and opportunities of our new parish. Subsequently, the committee drafted a Master Plan to guide our church in responding to the challenges of God's blessings. The building committee, along with input from the parish, translated that vision into a concrete design for facilities needed most urgently. The parish approved these plans (Phase 1A) in spring of 2006. What do these plans represent? Besides addressing several issues of the overall Master Plan, it provides a place for all parishioners to grow and share their faith. More importantly, it represents a deepened sense of the presence of Christ in our lives and hearts to help people accept Christ personally, to know God intimately, and to walk in the Spirit faithfully. So we set out on a new path in our journey of faith, a journey of prayer, decisions, and commitment. Where will this journey lead? New doorways of ministry will be opened.People's lives will be touched and shaped in Christ. We will be led to new experiences of God's love, power, and blessings working in and amongst us. What God can accomplish through willing disciples will astound us and change us. God is creating a home for us, a place where we will grow as a church and be a family of faith. Let us walk this journey together! Fr. Jay DeFalco
