Children’s Religious Education at Holy Cross
Welcome!
Holy Cross parish offers Sunday morning and Wednesday evening classes for children in preschool through
fifth grade from September through May. Children may join class at any time.
Come and join the fun as we learn about our Faith and grow in love for Jesus
and His Church!
2011-2012 School Year:
Registration for children’s religious education classes begins September 4,
2011.
Come and be a part of our catechist
team! Would you like to
help our parish children deepen their understanding of their Faith? Do you
have a passion for spreading the good news of the Gospel? Could you give a
few hours of your time each month teaching, praying, and playing with kids?
We need you to make our parish RE program happen; all programs are
parent/volunteer-led. Come and talk with me (LeeAnn Balbirona) if you would
like to be a part of this year’s RE team or send me an email at
religioused@holy-cross-parish.com. All volunteers must take SEP training
annually and have a current background check on file with the archdiocese.
Orientation, training and ongoing support provided for all catechists.
Missing Sacraments?
Parents with children under age 7 seeking baptism for their children should
contact our baptism coordinator Amy Bazile. Children older than 7 years old
desiring baptism enroll in the Rite of Christian Initiation adapted for
Children program; contact RCIA coordinator Carmella Barger for more
information.
Ready for First Communion?
Baptized children age 7 and up (grades 2-5) desiring to receive First
Communion enroll in Sacrament preparation during Fall registration. At least
one parent must be a practicing and fully-initiated Catholic and child must
be validly baptized. Please submit a copy of certificate of baptism and your
contact information to the coordinator of children’s religious education.
Catholic School Families:
Children desiring to make First Communion, who receive religious education
at a Catholic School, should enroll in Sunday afternoon Sacramental prep
classes.
Home Instruction:
Families who desire to complete instruction for Sacrament preparation at
home (due to schedule conflicts or home school preference) should enroll in
and attend Wednesday RE classes.
Missed First Communion?
If you are a baptized child in Grades 6-12 and missed out on preparation for
First Confession and First Communion please contact youth ministry
coordinator Annette Van Dyke to receive more information on instruction for
Confession and Communion.
